AEMO provides planning and forecasting information to support efficient decision-making and long-term investment in Western Australia's electricity and natural gas markets and infrastructure services. This information is used to support industry and government to make informed decisions for the long-term benefit of consumers.

To accompany planning and forecasting reports, AEMO produces interactive maps, graphs, and data that provide essential information and insights to government, investors, and stakeholders to enable competitive markets, efficient investment, and network planning.

These major reports are developed for the Western Australian electricity market.

Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Electricity Statement of Opportunities

The WEM Electricity Statement of Opportunities (ESOO) is prepared annually and provides forecasts and analysis of peak demand and energy use in the South West integrated system (SWIS) for the next 10 years. These forecasts are used to determine the Reserve Capacity Requirement for the following certification period.

South West Interconnected System Electricity Demand Outlook

The 2014 SWIS Electricity Demand Outlook (SEDO) was published in place of the 2014 Electricity Statement of Opportunities on 17 June 2014. It provided updated electricity and peak demand forecasts for the period 2014–15 to 2023–24, for the information of current and potential participants in the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) and other interested stakeholders.
