At 1324 hrs 13/12/2023 the Hadspen - Palmerston No.3 & No.4 110 kV lines tripped and auto reclosed.
The cause of trip was identified as due to lightning.
In accordance with SO_OP_3715, AEMO now considers the Hadspen - Palmerston No.3 & No.4 110 kV lines to be vulnerable with a category of probable due to lightning.

Direction - SA region 13/12/2023
In accordance with section 116 of the National Electricity Law, AEMO has issued a direction to a participant in the SA region. For the purposes of the National Electricity Rules this is a direction under clause 4.8.9(a).
The direction was necessary to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.
AEMO may issue or revoke additional directions in order to meet the current requirement, unless sufficient market response is provided. A further market notice will be issued when all directions related to this requirement have been cancelled.
The issue of the direction commences an AEMO intervention event. AEMO declares all trading intervals during the event to be intervention trading intervals, commencing from the interval ending 1705 hrs on 13/12/2023.
Intervention pricing does not apply to this AEMO intervention event.

PDPASA - Update of the Forecast Lack Of Reserve Level 1 (LOR1) in the QLD Region on 14/12/2023
The Forecast LOR1 condition in the QLD region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No. 112243 has been updated at 1630 hrs to the following:
From 1730 hrs 14/12/2023 to 1800 hrs 14/12/2023.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1284 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1144 MW.

The synchronous generating units currently expected to be synchronised in SA from 0000 hrs 14/12/2023 will be inadequate to maintain a secure operating state in SA .
AEMO estimates that, in the absence of sufficient market response by 1700 hrs 13/12/2023, AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to operate or remain synchronised to maintain power system security in SA.

AEMO declares a Forecast LOR1 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the NSW region for the following period:
From 1530 hrs to 1600 hrs 19/12/2023.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1400 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1315 MW.

The minimum capacity reserve available is 988 MW.

The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1370 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1323 MW.

Fast Frequency Response Market - Increase in R1 FCAS volume 18 December 2023.
Following review of the operation of the Very Fast FCAS market, from 1300 hrs AEST on Monday 18 December AEMO will:
Increase the cap on dispatch of Very Fast Raise (R1) Contingency FCAS from 175 MW to 225 MW
Retain the existing cap on dispatch of Very Fast Lower (L1) Contingency FCAS at 100 MW
No other changes to the dispatch of Very Fast FCAS or FCAS constraint equation changes will be made on this date
