Mainland volumes were increased by 30 MW, setting the base raise regulation requirement at 160 MW and the base lower regulation requirement to 150 MW.
AEMO will provide further information on the trial in early 2019 once all data has been thoroughly analysed and final costs established.

Implementation of the Mainland regulation FCAS trials from 0000 hrs on 12 October to 2400 hrs on 11 December 2018 (EST)
AEMO is commencing a two-month trial of procuring an additional 30 MW of raise and lower regulating FCAS services in mainland NEM regions from 12 October to 11 December 2018. This will take the quantities procured to 160 MW of raise regulating service and 150 MW of lower regulating service.
The trial will:
1. Determine the impact of revised regulation FCAS market volumes for managing frequency performance and arresting the current degrading trend.
2. Inform recommendations for optimal management of regulation FCAS and time error.
No change is proposed for the Tasmanian regulation requirements.
