Nino Ficca

Nino Ficca was appointed interim CEO of AEMO in November 2020, after Audrey Zibelman announced her resignation to the Board.

This role sees Mr Ficca oversee AEMO’s strategic, operations and administrative functions and responsibilities.  A role he will continue until the appointment and commencement of a new CEO.

Mr Ficca has extensive senior executive experience in strategic and operational roles within the energy sector, including in the National Electricity Market and gas markets.

He served as Managing Director of AusNet Services Limited and its predecessors, SP AusNet and SPI Powernet, from 2001-19.

An electrical engineer by training, Mr Ficca has a deep understanding of energy transmission and distribution grids, and their importance in underpinning effective markets and maintaining secure, reliable and high-performing systems.

Mr Ficca is the immediate past Chairman of the Energy Networks Association, and a past Chair of CIGRE Australia. He is a Non-Executive Director of the Transurban Queensland Group, and Professor, Industry Engagement Deakin University.

Mr Ficca joined the Board of AEMO in 2019.
