AEMO has established the WA Strategic Energy Forum (WA-SEF) to enable senior executives across the energy sector to discuss the strategic priorities, opportunities and challenges for the South West Interconnected System’s (SWIS) energy transition and domestic gas market.
Objectives
The objective of the WA-SEF is to enable deeper, strategic engagement between AEMO and senior executives from across the energy sector by:
- facilitating sessions with senior executives from Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) participants, the gas market, WA State Government, market bodies, and energy consumer advocates;
- providing a forum for open discussion on how the sector can collaborate to ensure safe, reliable, affordable, and clean energy, as well as commercially sustainable and efficiently-designed markets, in the context of the broader energy transition;
- facilitating strategic conversation about the key issues facing the energy sector now and into the future
- consulting on AEMO’s annual priorities, activities, and resulting budget and fees setting for Western Australia; and
- evolving the WA-SEF over time, as required, in response to feedback from participants, ensuring the forum’s format and content remains relevant to attendees.
