System Strength Impact Assessment Guidelines

These interim guidelines applied until 30 June 2018. From 1 July 2018, please see the final System Strength Impact Assessment Guidelines.

AEMO was required to determine interim system strength impact assessment guidelines by 17 November 2017, in accordance with clauses 11.101.2 and 4.6.6 of the National Electricity Rules, as amended by the National Electricity Amendment (Managing power system fault levels) Rule 2017 No. 10 (Fault Levels Rule).

The interim guidelines are set out in this document. They provide an initial description of the principles and methodologies to be used when assessing the impact on the strength of the electrical system of a proposed new or modified generating system or market network service facility connection to the National Electricity Market.

The interim guidelines have been developed as a precursor to final guidelines that must be published by 1 July 2018.
