Integrated System Plan (ISP)

The Integrated System Plan (ISP) is a roadmap for the transition of the National Electricity Market (NEM) power system over at least the next 20 years.

A key requirement of each ISP is the Optimal Development Path (ODP) which outlines the mix of generation, storage and network investments required to meet both consumer needs and government energy and emissions targets.

It assesses the options available and identifies the lowest-cost, resilient, pragmatic path to the NEM’s energy future of net zero by 2050. It is then used by governments and industry to progress investment in energy infrastructure and to inform policy.

Identifying the ODP for each ISP is the outcome of two years of consultation and engagement with stakeholders to develop a range of development options for assessment.
