The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) can confirm that an estimated 446,348 Victorians are without power as at 11:00 am Friday 29 October due to strong winds and heavy rains causing severe powerline damage across the state.
At this stage, challenging weather conditions continue to cause damage throughout Victoria’s electricity network. Network crews are assessing the damage and conducting repairs to damaged powerlines and other infrastructure.
Given the extent of the damage, it is expected some customers will be off into the weekend and potentially early next week.
Victorians travelling this weekend should consider their plans as storms and electricity outages are widespread.
