The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) can confirm that 271,593 properties across Victoria remain without electricity, down from 518,000 this morning, due to strong winds and heavy rainfall overnight and today.
Throughout the day, network crews continued to endure challenging weather conditions. This is adding to the existing risk of working near falling trees, and unblocking roads to repair damaged powerlines and critical energy infrastructure.
Despite restoring power supply to more than 246,407 homes and businesses today, it is expected some properties will be without power into the weekend and potentially early next week.
Victorians travelling this weekend should consider their plans to visit areas of significant storm damage, flooding and electricity outages.
