Where the Integrated System Plan (ISP) identifies an Actionable Project, the National Electricity Rules (NER) require AEMO to conduct consultation on non-network options to meet the identified need. With the publication of the Draft 2022 ISP [to be linked to Draft Consultation Page - forthcoming], AEMO is calling for non-network options for the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission link.

The Notice of Consultation, linked below, includes:

  • The identified need that the New England REZ transmission link (including any non-network option) is addressing;
  • Detail on the technical characteristics that non-network options for the New England REZ transmission link must meet; and
  • A list of the types of information required from proponents of any non-network options.

Submissions in response to this Notice of Consultation should be sent by email to isp@aemo.com.au 5.00pm (Sydney time) on 4 March 2022.

Submissions received after the closing date and time will not be valid, and AEMO is not obliged to consider them. Any late submissions should explain the reason for lateness and the detriment to you if AEMO does not consider your submission.

Following submissions, AEMO and Transgrid, as the relevant Transmission Network Service Provider (TNSP), must provide a preliminary assessment of whether each non-network proposal meets, or is reasonably likely to meet, the relevant identified need.
