Matters under consultation
The Electricity Demand Forecasting Methodology and the forecasts it produces are key inputs into AEMO’s reliability processes, including the Electricity Statement of Opportunities (ESOO). Given the importance of the reliability forecast in potentially triggering obligations under the Retailer Reliability Obligation (RRO), AEMO strives to engage with all relevant stakeholders, to ensure the methodologies used for each component of the forecast reflect stakeholder feedback and insights.
The Electricity Demand Forecasting Methodology is a component of AEMO’s Forecasting Approach and was last consulted on in 2021.This consultation addresses AEMO’s requirements to review each component of its Forecasting Approach at least once every four years.
Consultation on the draft Electricity Demand Forecasting Methodology closed on 17 January 2025. Submissions have been published, except for confidential material in accordance with AEMO’s Consultation submission guidelines.
