Matters under consultation
The Electricity demand forecasting methodology and the forecasts it produces are key inputs into AEMO’s reliability processes, including the Electricity Statement of Opportunities (ESOO). Given the importance of the reliability forecast in potentially triggering obligations under the Retailer Reliability Obligation (RRO), AEMO strives to engage with all relevant stakeholders, to ensure the methodologies used for each component of the forecast reflect stakeholder feedback and insights.
The electricity demand forecasting methodology is a component of AEMO’s Forecasting Approach and was last consulted on in 2021.This consultation addresses AEMO’s requirements to review each component of its Forecasting Approach at least once every four years.
AEMO’s indicative process and timeline for this consultation are outlined below. Future dates may be adjusted and additional steps may be included if necessary, as the consultation progresses.
Consultation submissions on the Electricity demand forecasting methodology consultation paper are due in PDF format to Electricity.Forecasting@AEMO.com.au by 23 August 2024. Please note that submissions will be published, other than confidential material, as per AEMO’s Consultation submission guidelines.
