Corrective actions to maintain public safety and assist in meeting safety objectives set out in AusNet’s Mission Zero Strategy
AusNet Services is undertaking this Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T) to apply corrective actions to maintain public safety and assist in meeting safety objectives set out in AusNet’s Mission Zero strategy.
Publication of this Project Specification Consultation Report (PSCR) represents the first step in the RIT-T process in accordance with clause 5.16 of the National Electricity Rules (NER) and section 4.2 of the RIT-T Application Guidelines.
AusNet Services determined that the continued exposure to residual risks means that the present value of baseline cost associated with leaving the towers in service is $59 million. AusNet Services is therefore investigating options that could allow continued delivery of safe transmission network services along the Heywood Terminal Station (HYTS) to Alcoa Portland (APD) smelter.
AusNet Services welcomes written submissions on the issues and the credible options presented in this PSCR. Submissions should be emailed to rittconsultations@ausnetservices.com.au on or before 31 May 2024. In the subject field, please reference ‘RIT-T PSCR Transmission Line Insulator Replacement.’
