ElectraNet has published a Project Specification Consultation Report (PSCR) for the Managing the Risk of Instrument Transformer Failure Project under the Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T), as required by the National Electricity Rules clause 5.16.
The PSCR is the first stage of the RIT-T process. The report determined that there was only one technically and economically feasible option which is to replace selected instrument transformers on the network.
ElectraNet has identified approximately 179 instrument transformers for replacement. The replacement of the instrument transformers will minimise any consequential effects of asset failures on downstream customers through potential uncleared faults or explosive asset failures.
The PSCR is available for download at www.electranet.com.au as well as below:

On 6 January 2020 ElectraNet published a Project Assessment Conclusions Report (PACR) that confirms the preferred option is to replace the identified end-of-life instrument transformers to manage the risk of failure.
