ElectraNet is undertaking a Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T) to investigate options for reinforcement of the Lower Eyre Peninsula electricity transmission network. The Eyre Peninsula region has significant renewable energy and mineral resources, but currently limited electricity transmission infrastructure to support the development of those resources.

The Project Assessment Draft Report (PADR) released on 8 January 2013 shows that a new 275kV transmission line from Cultana near Whyalla is the most economical solution to supplying increased demand for electricity on the Lower Eyre Peninsula if a new load of sufficient magnitude connects.

The PADR, titled Lower Eyre Peninsula Reinforcement, represents the second stage of the National Electricity Market consultation process for application of the Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T) and is available on the ElectraNet website at www.electranet.com.au.

Written submissions are due on or before 1 March 2013.

A public forum on the PADR will be held on Wednesday, 13 February 2013 at the Crowne Plaza Adelaide, 16 Hindmarsh Square, Adelaide from 9.30 am to 11am (please note the change in date from what was originally proposed). Registration forms can be downloaded from the ElectraNet website.
