PDPASA - Forecast Lack Of Reserve Level 2 (LOR2) in the SA Region on 23/09/2024
AEMO declares a Forecast LOR2 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the SA region for the following Period:
[1.] From 1930 hrs 23/09/2024 to 2000 hrs 23/09/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 350 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 322 MW.
AEMO is seeking a market response.
AEMO has not yet estimated the latest time at which it would need to intervene through an AEMO intervention event.

The Forecast LOR2 condition in the SA region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No. 118361 is cancelled at 0300 hrs 22/09/2024.
No LOR2 condition is currently forecast in the STPASA period.

AEMO declares a Forecast LOR2 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the SA region for the following period:
[1.] From 1430 hrs 24/09/2024 to 1600 hrs 24/09/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 516 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 462 MW.
AEMO is seeking a market response.
AEMO has not yet estimated the latest time it would need to intervene through an AEMO intervention event.

At 1340 hrs 19/09/2024 the Gordon - Chapel St No 1 220 kV line and the Gordon - Chapel St No 2 220 kV line tripped.
The cause of the trip was identified as due to Lightning.
In accordance with SO_OP_3715, AEMO now considers the Gordon - Chapel St No 1 220 kV line and the Gordon - Chapel St No 2 220 kV line to be vulnerable with a category of Vulnerability due to Lightning.

At 1446 hrs the Gordon - Chapel St No 1 and No 2 220 kV lines were returned to service.
This non-credible contingency event was caused by lightning. There is no longer any lightning activity in the vicinity of the following lines. Accordingly its classification has reverted to a non-credible contingency event.

At 1340 hrs the Gordon - Chapel St No1 and No 2 220 kV lines tripped.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has advised of approximately 112 MW disconnection of bulk electrical load,
disconnection of generation at Studland Bay Wind generator (71 MW) and 23 MW generation reduction at Gordon Power station.
The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.
