AEMO is currently developing the 2020 Integrated System Plan
(ISP), due for release later this year, which will provide an actionable
roadmap for navigating Australia’s secure and reliable energy future.
As part of this process, we published the Draft 2020 ISP
in December 2019 (the consultation period is currently open) and over the last three
days there were stakeholder workshops held in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne on
the Draft 2020 ISP. The objectives of those workshops were to provide
stakeholders with an opportunity to ask questions face to face with the ISP
modelling team ahead of the written submissions, and to involve stakeholders in
the prioritisation of the remaining work scope.
Over 130 people from a wide variety of industry sectors
attended the four hour workshops across the three sites. The day was broken
into several different sessions, including small group discussions, a panel
session with the AEMO modelling leads, and a ‘Meet the Modellers’ session
covering five different aspects of the ISP.
There was the opportunity for plenty of question and answers
directly with the modelling team and senior executives. Initial feedback from
participants was that they valued the opportunity to talk directly with the
modellers, and to directly influence the prioritisation and focus for the next
3 months of work ahead of the Final ISP, to be published in June. A summary of
the workshops will be published on the AEMO website in coming weeks.
For those that were unable to attend the in-person
workshops, AEMO will be holding a webinar next week on Tues 11th
February at 1-3 pm. If you would like to attend the webinar, please email isp@aemo.com.au and we will send you an
invitation with instructions on how to register.

the consultation can be found on our website.
