AEMOs Graduate Development Program wrap up

2 min

This year, AEMO’s highly successful Graduate Development Program (GDP) saw a whopping 950 applicants put their best foot forward to land a coveted spot on AEMO’s three-year program.

“With nearly 1,000 applications from around Australia and the world, we’re excited to see how eager graduates are to develop their career in Australia’s energy sector, while making a difference to the lives of everyday Australians,” said Tracy Santoro, AEMO’s Graduate Coordinator.

“By providing the successful applicants with the chance to spend nine months in four different teams around the business, our program is a great opportunity to develop their skillset, while injecting new ideas and ways of thinking to our business,” said Tracy.

This year's campaign was open from May to July and was advertised widely on AEMO's careers page, graduate websites, and social media accounts. It also included our tongue-in-cheek memes that made some waves across the digital platform.

After rigorous screening, alignment to disciplines advertised and over 200 phone interviews, applications are now in the final review stage for assessment centres, commencing in late August.

Our current discipline selection is listed below, with 48 candidates across Australia to be selected to attend an assessment centre.

Key disciplines:

  • Economics
  • Energy Systems/Renewables
  • Engineering – Electrical – Power Systems, Mechanical; Chemical
  • IT/Architecture – Artificial Intelligence; Software Engineering
  • Maths/Science – Analytical Forecasting; Data Science; Statistical Modellers

Assessment Centres give the selected candidates an opportunity to meet AEMO's GDP champions and the GDP coordination team. There will be a total of nine graduates for the 2019 intake, who will commence in February 2019.
