Statement on market suspension

At 1.55pm (AEST) yesterday (Thursday 5 September), AEMO suspended the spot market for all regions in the National Electricity Market, following an internal IT issue. The market was reinstated at 3:10pm.

The issue was not cyber related, there was no impact to electricity supply to customers, and AEMO is confident the issue has been resolved.

AEMO followed its market suspension protocol.

AEMO apologises for the disruption and appreciates the support of market participants. We will publish an incident report in the next week.
