The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) congratulates
John Pierce on completing 10 years as Chairman of the Australian Energy Market
Commission (AEMC) and notes his retirement as head of the energy rule maker on
3 July 2020.
A key contributor to the architecture of the National Electricity
Market (NEM), John Pierce has ensured the interests of consumers were at the
fore of energy market debates over the past decade.
“On behalf of AEMO, I want to congratulate John on his
leadership and the legacy he leaves behind,” AEMO Managing Director and CEO, Ms
Audrey Zibelman said.
“I will miss his wisdom and passion, as I’m sure will his
AEMC colleagues,” she said.
The AEMC is one of three market bodies that comprise Australia’s energy sector. The AEMC sets the rules which AEMO adheres to in its capacity as the NEM’s independent market operator AEMO.
