ACTUAL NEGATIVE SETTLEMENT RESIDUES - NSW to VIC - 15 March 2024.
Electricity Market outcomes have resulted in the accumulation of negative settlement residues that have exceeded the allowable negative residue threshold for the NSW to VIC directional interconnector.
The negative residue constraint set NRM_NSW1_VIC1 commenced operating from 1005 hrs on 15 March 2024.
This constraint set contains an equation with the following interconnectors on the LHS:
VIC1-NSW1
The RHS of the constraint equation may be adjusted to manage residues.

The synchronous generating units currently expected to be synchronised in SA from 2100 hrs 14/03/2024 will be inadequate to maintain a secure operating state in SA.
AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to operate or remain synchronised to maintain power system security in SA.

In accordance with section 116 of the National Electricity Law, AEMO has issued a direction to a participant in the SA region. For the purposes of the National Electricity Rules this is a direction under clause 4.8.9(a).
The direction was necessary to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.
AEMO may issue or revoke additional directions in order to meet the current requirement, unless sufficient market response is provided. A further market notice will be issued when all directions related to this requirement have been cancelled.
The issue of the direction commences an AEMO intervention event. AEMO declares all trading intervals during the event to be intervention trading intervals, commencing from the interval ending 1705 hrs on 13/03/2024.
Intervention pricing does not apply to this AEMO intervention event.

AEMO estimates that, in the absence of sufficient market response by 1700 hrs 13/03/2024, AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to operate or remain synchronised to maintain power system security in SA.

Fast Frequency Response Market - Increase in R1 FCAS dispatch cap from 18 March 2024.
Following review of the operation of the Very Fast FCAS market, from 1300 hrs AEST on Monday 18 March AEMO will:
Increase the cap on dispatch of Very Fast Raise (R1) Contingency FCAS from 225 MW to 250 MW
Retain the existing cap on dispatch of Very Fast Lower (L1) Contingency FCAS at 125 MW
No other changes to the dispatch of Very Fast FCAS or FCAS constraint equation changes will be made on this date.
