STPASA - Forecast Lack Of Reserve Level 1 (LOR1) in the NSW Region on 19/12/2023
AEMO declares a Forecast LOR1 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the NSW region for the following period:
From 1530 hrs to 1600 hrs 19/12/2023.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1400 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1315 MW.

At 1324 hrs the Hadspen - Palmerston No.3 & No.4 110 kV lines tripped.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.
The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.

AEMO declares a Forecast LOR1 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the QLD region for the following Period:

The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1286 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 988 MW.

Possible intervention to manage power system security in SA Region
The synchronous generating units currently expected to be synchronised in SA from 0130 hrs 14/12/2023 will be inadequate to maintain a secure operating state in SA.
AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to operate or remain synchronised to maintain power system security in SA.

In accordance with section 116 of the National Electricity Law, AEMO has issued a direction to a participant in the SA region. For the purposes of the National Electricity Rules this is a direction under clause 4.8.9(a).
The direction was necessary to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.
AEMO may issue or revoke additional directions in order to meet the current requirement, unless sufficient market response is provided. A further market notice will be issued when all directions related to this requirement have been cancelled.
The issue of the direction commences an AEMO intervention event. AEMO declares all trading intervals during the event to be intervention trading intervals, commencing from the interval ending 1705 hrs on 12/12/2023.
Intervention pricing does not apply to this AEMO intervention event.

The Forecast LOR1 condition in the QLD region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No. 112182 has been updated at 1400 hrs 12/12/2023 to the following:
From 1730 hrs to 1800 hrs 14/12/2023.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1285 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1193 MW.

The Forecast LOR1 condition in the NSW region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No. 112183 has been updated at 1400 hrs 12/12/2023 to the following:
From 2000 hrs to 2030 hrs 14/12/2023.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1735 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1569 MW.
