Update - Lightning vulnerable lines in QLD region
Refer to AEMO Electricity Market Notice 112794
At 2345 hrs 26/12/2023, the Clare South - Strathmore No.7208 and Strathmore - Clare South tee King Creek No.7128 132 kV Lines tripped.
The cause of the trip was identified as due to Lightning.
In accordance with SO_OP_3715, AEMO now considers the Clare South - Strathmore No.7208 and Strathmore - Clare South tee King Creek No.7128 132 kV Lines to be vulnerable with a category of "Probable" due to Lightning.

At 2345 hrs the Strathmore Clare South 7208 and the Strathmore Clare South Tee King Creek 7128 132kV lines tripped.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.
The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.

At 1424 hrs the H14 Middle Ridge 275 kV circuit breakers 5432 and 5422 tripped. This offloaded the H14 Middle Ridge No.2 and No.3 275/110 kV transformers.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.
The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.

QNI Minor testing (NSW to Qld) 21st December 2023

There is an opportunity for testing QNI Minor for flows from NSW to Qld up to 750 MW on Thursday 21st December from 1400 to 1700hrs.
This test includes a trip and reclose of a line in northern NSW.

At 1350 28/11/2023 hrs Tungkillo- Robertstown No.1 and No.2 275kV lines and the Robertstown No.1 and No.2 synchronous condensers were reclassified due to the elements tripping at 0534 hrs 28/11/2023
The cause of trip was identified as due to lightning.
In accordance with SO_OP_3715, AEMO now considers the following elements to be vulnerable due to lightning.
Elements: Tungkillo- Robertstown No.1 and No.2 275kV lines and the Robertstown No.1 and No.2 synchronous condensers.

NEM Local Temperature Alerts for VIC from 14 Dec 2023 to 18 Dec 2023
AEMO's weather service provider has issued forecast temperatures equal to or greater than the NEM Local Temperature Alert Levels for listed weather stations below.

The NEM Local Temperature Alert Levels are:
Launceston Ti Tree Bend: 33 Deg C, Dalby Airport: 37 Deg C, for all other selected weather stations: 39 Deg C.
AEMO requests Market Participants to:
1. review the weather forecast in the local area where their generating units / MNSP converter stations are located and,
2. if required, update the available capacity in their dispatch offers or availability submissions consistent with the forecast temperatures.
