In accordance with section 116 of the National Electricity Law, AEMO has issued a direction to a participant in the SA region. For the purposes of the National Electricity Rules this is a direction under clause 4.8.9(a).
The direction was necessary to maintain the power system in a secure operating state.
AEMO may issue or revoke additional directions in order to meet the current requirement, unless sufficient market response is provided. A further market notice will be issued when all directions related to this requirement have been cancelled.
The issue of the direction commences an AEMO intervention event. AEMO declares all trading intervals during the event to be intervention trading intervals, commencing from the interval ending 1305 hrs on 24/02/2024.
Intervention pricing does not apply to this AEMO intervention event.

The synchronous generating units currently expected to be synchronised in SA from 0730 hrs 25/02/2024 will be inadequate to maintain a secure operating state in SA .
AEMO estimates that, in the absence of sufficient market response by 1300 hrs 24/02/2024, AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to operate or remain synchronised to maintain power system security in SA.

AEMO declares a Forecast LOR1 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the NSW region for the following period:
From 1530 hrs to 2130 hrs 29/02/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1698 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 968 MW.

The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1256 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1004 MW.

The Forecast LOR1 condition in the QLD region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No. 115016 has been updated at 1315 hrs to the following:
[1.] From 1730 hrs 23/02/2024 to 1900 hrs 23/02/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1256 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1097 MW.

NEM Local Temperature Alerts for SA from 23 Feb 2024 to 27 Feb 2024
AEMO's weather service provider has issued forecast temperatures equal to or greater than the NEM Local Temperature Alert Levels for listed weather stations below.
SA
Adelaide West Terrace (39+ Deg C): 27th Feb
Port Augusta Ap (39+ Deg C): 27th Feb
The NEM Local Temperature Alert Levels are:
Launceston Ti Tree Bend: 33 Deg C, Dalby Airport: 37 Deg C, for all other selected weather stations: 39 Deg C.
AEMO requests Market Participants to:
1. review the weather forecast in the local area where their generating units / MNSP converter stations are located and,
2. if required, update the available capacity in their dispatch offers or availability submissions consistent with the forecast temperatures.
