The Australian Bureau of Meteorology's Space Weather Forecasting Centre has issued the following notification.
Severe space weather watch: A recent space weather event is anticipated to impact the Earth within the next 48 hours.
The effects are expected to be significant.
Increased awareness of critical infrastructure is advised.
Please monitor the SWS website for further updates at https://www.sws.bom.gov.au
If required; actions will be taken as per AEMO's system operating procedure SO_OP3715 Power System Security Guidelines.

Refer AEMO Electricity Market Notice 115624
At 1635 hrs the Tungkillo - Robertstown No. 1 275 kV Line and the Tungkillo East 275 kV Bus was returned to service.
The cause of this non-credible contingency event has been identified and AEMO is satisfied that another occurrence of this event is unlikely under the current circumstances.
AEMO will not reclassify this event as a credible contingency event.

At 2307 hrs the Tungkillo - Robertstown No. 1 275 kV Line and the Tungkillo East 275 kV Bus tripped.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.
The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.

Fast Frequency Response Market - Increase in R1 FCAS dispatch cap from 18 March 2024.
Following review of the operation of the Very Fast FCAS market, from 1300 hrs AEST on Monday 18 March AEMO will:
Increase the cap on dispatch of Very Fast Raise (R1) Contingency FCAS from 225 MW to 250 MW
Retain the existing cap on dispatch of Very Fast Lower (L1) Contingency FCAS at 125 MW
No other changes to the dispatch of Very Fast FCAS or FCAS constraint equation changes will be made on this date.

AEMO did not instruct load shedding.

The Actual LOR1 Condition in the SA Region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No.115593 is cancelled at 1945 hrs 11/03/2024.

Actual Lack Of Reserve Level 1 (LOR1) in the SA region - 11/03/2024
An Actual LOR1 condition has been declared under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the SA region from 1830 hrs.
The Actual LOR1 condition is forecast to exist until 2030 hrs
The capacity reserve requirement is 498 MW
The minimum capacity reserve available is 255 MW

1. review the weather forecast in the local area where their generating units / MNSP converter stations are located and,
2. if required, update the available capacity in their dispatch offers or availability submissions consistent with the forecast temperatures.
