PDPASA - Update of the Forecast Lack Of Reserve Level 1 (LOR1) in the SA Region on 23/09/2024
The Forecast LOR1 condition in the SA region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No. 118392 has been updated at 1020 hrs to the following:
From 1830 hrs 23/09/2024 to 2200 hrs 23/09/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 600 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 450 MW.

The minimum capacity reserve available is 523 MW.

The minimum capacity reserve available is 481 MW.

AEMO declares a Forecast LOR1 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the SA region for the following periods:
[1.] From 1800 hrs 23/09/2024 to 1830 hrs 23/09/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 600 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 432 MW.
[2.] From 2030 hrs 23/09/2024 to 2130 hrs 23/09/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 600 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 448 MW.

Refer AEMO Electricity Market Notice 118321
At 1446 hrs the Gordon - Chapel St No 1 and No 2 220 kV lines were returned to service.
This non-credible contingency event was caused by lightning. There is no longer any lightning activity in the vicinity of the following lines. Accordingly its classification has reverted to a non-credible contingency event.

At 1340 hrs the Gordon - Chapel St No1 and No 2 220 kV lines tripped.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO has advised of approximately 112 MW disconnection of bulk electrical load,
disconnection of generation at Studland Bay Wind generator (71 MW) and 23 MW generation reduction at Gordon Power station.
The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.
