AEMO’s Managing Director and CEO, Audrey Zibelman, gave the keynote address at the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) event in Sydney today

CEDA is a national, not-for-profit, independent, member-based organisation providing thought leadership and policy perspectives on the economic and social issues affecting Australia.

Their Opportunities in the Future Energy Market event, held today at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney’s CBD, focused on what investment in Australia’s energy infrastructure is required to support energy generation and growth in distributed and renewable energy.

In addition to Ms Zibelman, notable leaders from the energy industry (including Clean Energy Finance Corporation, AGL and International Microgrid Association) explored AEMO’s latest analysis, reliability assessments, supply and demand forecasts and opportunities to participate in Australia’s energy transition.

The CEDA event primarily examined:

  • Insights from AEMO’s Electricity Statement of Opportunities2019 a forecast of electricity supply reliability in the National Electricity Market (NEM) over a 10 year period to inform the decision-making of market participants, new investors, and policy-makers
  • Energy technologies that will disrupt traditional networks
  • Trends and investment across renewable energy in solar, wind, bioenergy, and energy storage
  • Tracing energy sector investment and opportunities in Australia’s energy transition

AEMO is committed to assuring that the markets we operate deliver Australian energy consumers access to reliable, secure and affordable electricity. The 2019 ESOO provides technical and market data that informs the decision-making processes of market participants, new investors, and jurisdictional bodies as they assess opportunities in the National Electricity Market (NEM) over a 10-year outlook period.
