Possible intervention to manage power system security in South Australia (SA) Region
Possible intervention to manage power system security in South Australia (SA) Region
The synchronous generating units currently expected to be synchronised in SA from 0130 hrs 29/01/2022 will be inadequate to maintain a secure operating state in SA.
AEMO estimates that, in the absence of sufficient market response by 1600 hrs 28/01/2022, AEMO may need to intervene by issuing a direction requiring one or more SA synchronous generating unit(s) to operate or remain synchronised to maintain power system security in SA.

Non-credible contingency event more likely to occur due to existence of abnormal condition/s - Victoria region.
AEMO has identified that a non-credible contingency event is more likely to occur because of the existence of abnormal conditions namely severe weather and damaging winds in the Victoria region.
As at the time of this notice the criteria for reclassification of any non-credible contingency event have been met and there is a possibility of severe weather impacting multiple transmission elements in its vicinity.
Conditions can change rapidly and potentially impacted plant may change. Further notices will only be published to advise of any reclassification, or when the abnormal conditions have ceased to impact the likelihood of a non-credible event occurring.
Constraint set I-VS_250 invoked at 0935 hrs 28/01/2022 until further notice.
