RESERVE NOTICE MT PASA PUBLICATION 04 August 2020

The MTPASA result published on 04 August 2020 identifies no Low Reserve Conditions. This week's MTPASA includes updates for new committed generation found in the most recently published Generation Information page. This includes the addition of scheduled capacity from Temporary Generation South.

Please note that MTPASA informs the market of potential reliability issues to allow the market to respond in the first instance, potentially avoiding the need for any market intervention or direction from AEMO.

For further information, please refer to:
https://www.aemo.com.au/Electricity/National-Electricity-Market-NEM/Data/Market-Management-System-MMS/Projected-Assessment-of-System-Adequacy

This notice supersedes Market Notice 76456 published on 28 July 2020.

Background
As part of a broader process of implementing the reliability standard, AEMO runs the Medium Term Projected Assessment of System Adequacy (MTPASA) process weekly to forecast expected unserved energy levels over a two year period. If the expected annual unserved energy exceeds the maximum level specified by the Reliability Standard, a Low Reserve Condition is identified.

For more information about how AEMO implements the reliability standard, please view the Reliability Standard Implementation Guidelines (RSIG) available on AEMO's website at

Update to system strength requirements in North Queensland

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

Refer to market notice 76455

AEMO and Powerlink are continuing to investigate system strength requirements in North Queensland. The constraint equations will be revised at 1400 hrs Wed 5th August 2020.

The following combination will be updated:
7 - 2 x Stanwell, 1 x Callide B or Callide C, 3 x Gladstone, 7 x Total Stanwell+Callide+Gladstone, 0 or 1 x Kareeya, > 450 MW Nth Qld load, > 250 MW Ross + FNQ load: 80% output at Clare, Collinsville, Daydream, Hamilton, Hayman, Kidston, Ross, Rugby Run, Whitsunday

The following new combinations will be implemented:
10 - 2 x Stanwell, 1 x Callide B, 1 x Callide C, 3 x Gladstone, 8 x Total Stanwell+Callide+Gladstone, 3 x Kareeya, > 450 MW Nth Qld load, > 250 MW Ross + FNQ load: 20% output at Haughton, Sun Metals and Mt Emerald WF
11 - 2 x Stanwell, 1 x Callide B, 1 x Callide C, 3 x Gladstone, 8 x Total Stanwell+Callide+Gladstone, 3 x Kareeya, 1 x Barron Gorge, > 450 MW Nth Qld load, > 250 MW Ross + FNQ load: 40% output at Haughton, Sun Metals and Mt Emerald WF

If combination 7 is not met Clare, Collinsville, Daydream, Hamilton, Hayman, Kidston, Ross, Rugby Run, Whitsunday are limited to 0 MW and 0 inverters.
If combinations 10 and 11 are not met Haughton, Sun Metals and Mt Emerald WF are limited to 0 MW and 0 inverters

The constraint equations in the Q-NIL set of the form below will be modified:
Q_NIL_STRGTH_XXX
Q_NIL_STRGTH_XXX_I
