AEMO declares a Forecast LOR2 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the QLD region for the following period:

From 1730 hrs to 2030 hrs 29/01/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 520 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 495 MW.

AEMO is seeking a market response.

AEMO has not yet estimated the latest time it would need to intervene through an AEMO intervention event.

From 1730 hrs to 2000 hrs 25/01/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 738 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 725 MW.

From 1430 hrs 25/01/2024 to 2130 hrs 25/01/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1362 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 622 MW.

Update - Non-credible contingency event - QLD region - 23/01/2024

Refer AEMO Electricity Market Notice 113659

At 1122 hrs the H35 Strathmore No2 275 kV bus was returned to service.

The cause of this non-credible contingency event has been identified and AEMO is satisfied that another occurrence of this event is unlikely under the current circumstances.

Nebo - Strathmore 878 275 kV line to remain out of service.

AEMO will not reclassify this event as a credible contingency event.

AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE

AEMO's weather service provider has issued forecast temperatures equal to or greater than the NEM Local Temperature Alert Levels for listed weather stations below.

QLD
Dalby Ap (37+ Deg C): 25th Jan

SA
Adelaide West Terrace (39+ Deg C): 23rd Jan
Clare High School (39+ Deg C): 23rd Jan
Port Augusta Ap (39+ Deg C): 23rd Jan

VIC
Mildura Ap (39+ Deg C): 23rd Jan

The NEM Local Temperature Alert Levels are:

Launceston Ti Tree Bend: 33 Deg C, Dalby Airport: 37 Deg C, for all other selected weather stations: 39 Deg C.

AEMO requests Market Participants to:

1. review the weather forecast in the local area where their generating units / MNSP converter stations are located and,

2. if required, update the available capacity in their dispatch offers or availability submissions consistent with the forecast temperatures.

AEMO did not instruct load shedding.

AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.

The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.
