Register as a Small Generation Aggregator (SGA) in the NEM

This page outlines the requirements for registering as a Small Generation Aggregator (SGA) in the National Electricity Market (NEM).

An SGA can supply electricity aggregated from one or more small generating units, which are connected to a distribution or transmission network. A small generating unit is owned, controlled and/or operated by a person who AEMO has exempted from the requirement to register as a Generator. The only SGA registration category is a market small generation aggregator.

An SGA can deliver market ancillary services in accordance with the National Electricity Rules and AEMO’s market ancillary services specifications, by applying for approval to classify a connection point for their small generating unit as an ancillary service load (ASL).

This page also provides information for participants, who are already registered as an SGA, classifying connections points for small generating units ASL.

Note: A person registered SGA can apply for approval to classify a connection point for their small generating unit as an ASL. Once your first application to classify non-scheduled ASL has been approved, to amend or classify new ASL, you will be required to manage your applications through the Portfolio Management System.

Credit support

Participants may need to provide credit support to AEMO. All Financial guarantees must be in the prescribed format. AEMO advises applicants to contact prudentials@aemo.com.au to discuss requirements prior to completing the AEMO Guarantee Pro Forma. You must submit an original signed AEMO Guarantee Pro Forma with your registration application.

Trustee deed

Where the Applicant is acting in a trustee capacity, they must complete and return the following Trustee Deed form. No changes can be made to the Trustee Deed other than the completion of details where highlighted.
