Market Readiness

Given the complexity of WEM Reform and the need for continuous operations, a comprehensive market readiness program was mission critical to a successful transition to the new WEM.

Market readiness involved supporting Market Participants with preparatory activities to ensure a successful market cutover and commencement, and was detailed in two high-level strategy documents (with subordinate artifacts beneath them).

The Market Readiness Engagement and Reporting Strategy set out how Market Readiness was to be measured, how progress against the Market go-live was reported and how stakeholders would be engaged during the readiness process. The Market Readiness Engagement and Reporting Strategy is available here.

The Industry Testing & Transition Strategy covered the following key elements:

  • Industry Testing
  • Transition activities
  • Cutover planning
  • The Go-Live Decision.

AEMO continued to consult with industry throughout WEM Reform, to establish and maintain the key elements of the Market Readiness approach.
