Participate in the market

From Market Generators to Network Operators and Market Customers, Rule Participants and their Registered Facilities play a vital role in the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM). This section of the site provides the administrative information, documents and processes needed to participate in the WEM, whether as a prospective, new or current participant.

In referring to participants, anyone subject to the WEM Rules is a RuleParticipant – and a Rule Participant can belong to more than one Rule Participant Class, except where this is explicitly restricted.

A Rule Participant that participates in any aspect of the Reserve Capacity Mechanism, the Short Term Electricity Market (STEM), the Balancing Market or Ancillary Services is referred to as a Market Participant. A business or organisation that is both a Market Generator and a MarketCustomer may be a single Market Participant.
